Gossip Girl TV Show

Can’t wait for Gossip Girl Season 2? With the trouble with the writers’ strike, we’re in for a full 24-episode season the second time around!
So, yeah, I can’t wait. I’m going to do a Gossip Girl marathon today so tune on Wednesday (before that, the site might still be a bit buggy) for

  • simple and sweet episode guides — coz I’ll be watching them all again! Yay!
  • catch up and find out the latest dish on the GG stars and characters
  • inter-related posts on the topics
  • listen to music from the show
  • how to subscribe to updates so you’re first to know!
  • what I think of next… we’ll see!

I’ll be posting that on Tribeca Star Lounge (www.tribecastar.com) — that’s the name of the hotel in the book that they now set at The Palace.
My friends set up a community/forum that just looks so adorable. I think it’s called vanilla. I’m wondering if I should continue setting that up for you guys? Or maybe we’ll just stick to the blog comments?

I’ve been reading about these Gossip Girl widgets from cwtv.com. I haven’t found them yet… are they really already up or am I just missing the obvious?

Anyway, I’m back from my trip to Hong Kong! Guess what?

The CW network is orchestrating “Gossip Girl” viewing parties at 20 sororities around the county.

The CW is creating “Gossip Girl” widgets that will play clips from the show and run real-life gossip news via an RSS feed supplied by People.com. The widgets will be available on and in CW banner ads through other sites.

In addition, CW has created a virtual replica of Manhattan’s Upper East Side for “Gossip Girl” that allows viewers to create avatars and become virtual residents visiting the same New York locations the series’ characters frequent. Fans also can use clips from the series to create their own “Gossip Girl” music videos, which can include personal pictures and videos and be distributed through mobile devices.

I loved The O.C. so much I got DVD copies. I love the Gossip Girl books quite a lot too but I never really thought of comparing them. Everyone’s saying Gossip Girl is The O.C. 2.0 or The O.C. set in New York but I really think Gossip Girl has its own place. I mean come on, I never wished I could be Marissa or Summer. Well, okay, watching Summer and Seth make me get all mushy but it’s not the same longing you get reading about Serena van der Woodsen and Blair Waldorf. I even relate to Jenny Humphrey with her big boobs and insecurities — there’s at least one Gossip Girl you can identify with or wish you were. The O.C. doesn’t have that kind of effect.

So I love hearing news about Gossip Girl! Sara Vilkomerson wrote in The New York Observer (published on my birthday!) about the tapings for the Gossip Girl TV show. Josh deals with the issue of The O.C. on the Upper East Side:

“In the book Dan lived on the Upper West Side, which I felt was a little subtle for the rest of the world,” said Mr. Schwartz. “We moved him to Brooklyn, which is apparently our new Chino.” Well, since he brought up Chino … was he worried at all about this show just being dismissed as The O.C. on the Upper East Side? “We always say we should be so lucky as to have the same run as The O.C. had,” he said. “But they’re very different shows. Orange County is kind of a bubble. It’s a very sort of staid suburban enclave with a lot of new money. While these kids on the Upper East Side are incredibly well-traveled, well-read, worried about competing for their futures from the time they could get into the elite nursery school. There’s just a different level of pressure and focus on the future.”

Some lines from the Gossip Girl TV show:

“Do you ever feel like our whole lives are planned out for us?” one boy asks another, as they stroll through Central Park sharing a joint. “Aren’t we entitled to be happy?”
“What we’re entitled to is a trust fund,” his friend replies. “Maybe a house in the Hamptons and a prescription drug problem. … But happiness? Does not seem to be on the menu. … So smoke up, and seal the deal with Blair, ’cause you are entitled to tap that ass.”

The Star Lounge in the Tribeca Star Hotel is really the Grand Bar at the Soho Grand Hotel.

The 3 Coffee Shop, where characters snack on hot chocolate and French fries, is the 3 Guys Restaurant at Madison and 75th, where actual kids snack on hot chocolate and French Fries.

Riverside Prep is actually the Collegiate School for boys on West 78th Street.

Sara Vilkomerson of The New York Observer and Nell Auchincloss guess where our favorite places in Gossip Girl will actually take place. See more at Gossip Girl, Decoded: A Teenager Translates Fiction to Fact

Time to get to know Serena van der Woodsen a bit before the show starts!

Serena van der Woodsen Because Im Worth It Gossip Girl

Serena van der Woodsen CW Gossip Girl TV Show Grand CentralSerena van der Woodsen is the most beautiful girl in the world. She’s the girl who looks good without making any effort, who the tackiest clothes look good, who we all love to hate. She can get too outrageous (or spontaneous, whatever) that she got kicked out of her boarding school in Europe because she frolicked in Southern France. She can’t stick to one guy for more than a week but she is totally devoted to whoever she’s into.

Serena, Blair, and Nate were always the awesome threesome until Serena went away to Hanover Academy. Blair waged war on Serena when she first got back, especially when she found out that her boyfriend Nate had slept with Serena in their sophomore year.

Serena and Blair have been best friends since first grade. You don’t just totally give up girlfriends like that.

Gossip Girl TV Show premieres on September 19 on CW!

I absolutely adore the Gossip Girl books! It’s the privileged teenage life everyone else can only dream of. Cecily von Ziegesar definitely knows how to appeal to the teenage brat in all of us. Now CW’s banking in with their new show that’s touted to be the next generation The O.C.

I don’t know about that. Gossip Girls on the Upper East Side are a league of their own.

I’m keeping this blog to document a community I’m starting for Gossip Girl lovers. I’ll also share updates on the books, the tv show, the actors, rants and raves — gossip! And whatever tickles my fancy.

Hang out with the coolest and meanest boys and girls from the Upper East Side. Tribeca Star is the place for avid readers of the Gossip Girl book series created by Cecily von Ziegesar (IT Girl) and for avid watchers of the Gossip Girl TV show on CW by Josh Schwartz (Producer of Veronica Mars).
